My name is Mariagrazia and I’m from Lombardy. I decided to live in Gubbio where I have become passionate about the art of weaving by hand, which today I have developed into my career.

Weaving on a Loom is a form of craftsmanship typical of Umbria. In Gubbio the Medieval “Corporazione dell’arte della lana” was big and powerful as shown by the remaining building, the impressive “Logge dei Tiratori”, that was used to dry and store wollen fabric.

In my workshop situated in the upper part of the Medieval city of Gubbio, you can see a large handweaving loom of wood, and also see my creations made in variety of fabrics from wool, linen and cashmere.
Duration: 2 hours and a half

Highlights

We will begin by weaving by hand using a weaving frame with which we will create a small tapestry inspired by the colours of Umbria, the greens of the vegetation, the gray of the stone, the intense blue of the sky and the yellow of the broom flower.
You will be able to include small branches of trees and plants typical of our region, to use in your weaving such as olive, oak, broom to create your own tapestry.

At the end of the experience you will be able to take away your tapestry if you like, with the little weaving frame that you be able to reuse at home, continuing to vocave on the theme of Umbria.
